Queer on the Street: How Cher Has Touched Us

As Cher continues on her farewell tour, we pause to think of the impact Cher has had on our community. We sent the inQueerGuy into chat rooms on a certain popular gay Web site and asked:

inQueerGuy: How has Cher touched you?

Here's some of our favorite responses:

adidasboi7: Cher never touched me. Once I thought she did, but it was just a randy drag queen and I was too drunk to know the difference.

CherBear68: When my sister got "Cher's Makeup Center" for Christmas in '77, it was destiny. A bust of Cher with curlers? I loved it more than my sis ever did. I'd found my calling as a hair dresser.

videoStar21: She once came to me in a dream in 1993 and said, "Michael, you need a good hair conditioner. Give Lori Davis a call." My hair never looked better.

newarkbtm62: When Chastity came out as a lesbian, I cried for days for Cher. Then when Cher said it was okay, I wanted to give birth to a dyke, too! Well, that really wasn't possible, so I adopted one instead.

qtGuy76: Cher once said, "A girl can wait for the right man to come along, but in the meantime, that still doesn't mean she can't have a wonderful time with all the wrong ones." I follow her advice every Saturday night.

jjr2001: She would rather walk through the fires of hell than become best friends with Dan Quayle. I have to admire that.
